I have a personal Minitor V pager that I use for my full time department. (I'm not close enough to get issued one from the department). It was in the snow for an undetermined amount of time a month or two ago. I think I fried the battery that was with it then, just now found a replacement. It turns on, tells me "Selective Call Frequency 1" or things like that when I turn it on or switch between A/B/C/D. If I press the squelch it opens up for awhile, closes, opens, etc. Drained the new battery (which might not be a great one, not sure) in about an hour. Not sure if it alerts, but does pick up some audio at least. (Hasn't been on long enough to figure that out).
My questions are this. Does anyone know if this is water damage. It had never been opened before and should have been "intrinsically" sound and didn't look like it was that wet. I immediately took the battery off and let it dry for a few days before I even tried anything. It had a bit of corrosion on one of the battery connections which I cleaned off. What's the depot charge if it is water damage, any idea?
And will they give me a new battery as part of the flat rate fee, if they cover it under flat rate, and I mention the battery is a problem and send the battery in?
I had looked at some things like the UCC Wireless, etc, as options for repair, but would really rather go with Motorola as long as I won't be charged hundreds of dollars.
