OK, so this may seem long winded, but I want to try to explain this as best as possible to see if anyone has any answers.
My department purchased Minitor 5 pagers approximately 1.5 years ago. Single channel stored voice.
We had some Minitor II pagers from the past. Single channel non-stored voice.
Tone Reeds in Minitor II are:
A=CZ or 346.7
B=HZ or 582.1
We have some old black boxes that read the tone frequencies as follows:
CZ - JZ
EZ - HZ
These respective frequencies are:
CZ=346.7
JZ=645.7
EZ=426.6
HZ=582.1
We were able to establish that for our department to be activated we needed to have the tones as listed above A and B. However, we have a dilemma that even dispatch hasn't been able to resolve. We operate on a 4 tone system. We only require the second set to be activated for a call, but when sending out a storm warning, say a tornado, dispatch only sends out the first set of tones which is NOT our A/B as listed above.
They don't have a list of the frequencies for the county departments (don't ask, I don't know, just know that I have beat my head against the wall trying to get them and they just don't have them and I can't seem to figure out how to get them out of the tone generator either). I have found a list of tone activations for Saginaw County Michigan online and it shows that the siren tone that I need is a QCI 2+2 format 346.9 / 426.6.
I have purchased a tone decoder and have been recording the local tones for about 3 weeks. I have been able to establish that the first two tones decode as 645.7 and 582.1 and the second two decode as 346.7 and 582.1. Put these into the Minitor V and they don't work. The first two tones alert for 3 different departments in the county. (explain THAT to the wife when you're woke up 10 times at night)
Best I can tell is that the first two tones of our system are a combination of all 4 tones listed above.
Tone A: 645.7 Tone B: 426.6
Tone 1A: 346.7 Tone 1B: 582.1
Put that into the tone generator and it's perfect. The problem is programming the Minitor V, I can't figure out how to duplicate the format above or get it so that just our department activates on the single tones and not all 3 departments.
If anyone has any suggestions, I would be greatly appreciative. I think I am just missing something and I can't figure out what.
The catch that I see is that we only have the 2 tone reeds in the Minitor II and yet when the first set of tones would go off, it would alert once and when the second set would go off it would alert a 2nd time and then the call was dispatched. This allowed it to go off when only the tornado warning was sounded. How did this work with only 2 tone reeds?
Thank you in advance for your help and I am sorry that this was so drawn out. I am just trying to paint a clear as mud picture.
