• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

Nick sent me his code plug and I think I have solved the problem. The Reset Function was set to Revert N with only a couple of seconds until reset. I suggested he move the reset time out to at least 7 seconds or longer.

We'll see what he has to report back.

Revert N has to do with Stored Voice. N is how long after tones go out it holds the squelch open waiting on dispatcher (or anyone technically) to key up radio. ie. if Revert N=7 ..... tones go out, dispatcher waits 8 seconds to start dispatching, the call wont be recorded, just 7 seconds of open squelch.

That doesn't "reset" the pager though. It "reverts" to monitor mode. It should stay in open monitor until the reset button is pressed.

Thanks mojo. I had it on 7 yesterday and I wasn't home when we dropped a call so when I got home I played back the message and I got almost the entire tone no dispatch voice. Steve said to place it on 10 but I went higher like 15 I can always go backwards once I get the entire page. I don't get this because all the other pagers are set to a lot lower and they work just fine.

Not sure what is going on here i put it up to 15 seconds revert N now it seems like i get the tone and voice but the channel doesnt stay open to monitor and other radio traffic ( red light is on ) also it seems to not record any other calls once there was already a call and red light being on ( seems like you have to rest the pager or turn it off and on. this Pager is confusing me completely

Since this has no stored voice, just use Revert ("automatically reverts to selective call after some time has passed, 10 minutes or so) or Manual(reverts whenever you press the reset button.

again.....Revert does not = Reset. Revert means "revert" to Carrier Squelch. It's really confusing I know, and Motorola could have at least spent more than 30 seconds documenting it.

In plain English
Revert means open monitor until the reset button is pushed.
Revert N is the same thing, but holds squelch open for N seconds (to record).

Revert N=15 should be fine, that's usually what I use for SV unless it's one of those counties that sends out 4 or 5 tones per dispatch. Send me your codeplug & I'll see what's going on

Got the codeplugs you sent. A/B/C on Silent Scan, that's more than likely why you're missing pages. On Silent scan, if someone's yapping on Ch.2 while your tones are going out on CH.1 it's not going to alert.

I see there's tones for both Ch.1 and Ch.1. Are you really being paged on 2 different frequencies?
