• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Just got 3 new Minitor VI pagers, 5 freq models, VHF.

Programmed easily.

However their reception is noticeably worse than a V model. Scratchy and not as clear.

This is while holding them side by side. The V is definately better.

I even pulled a 2nd unit out and programmed it the same with the same results.

Of course there is no way to view the engineer data as with prior models, so that's out for now.

Anyone else see this?

Yes, Minitor VI reception sucks. Noticeable difference from Minitor V.We put 6 VHF in service and they work but big difference in reception. Mighty M has acknowledged the issue and is supposed to be coming up with a firmware update to address issue but I haven't seen it yet on my MOL account yet. Bring back the Minitor II lol.

Where's that like button? I'm still using a min II lowband. Best reception. Ran a unity G1 for awhile. But the simplicity of the II is always welcome.

Many departments nationwide that are using the Motorola Minitor VI pager have reported static or noise heard on receipt of page or a page that has been missed completely under certain low radio frequency conditions. Motorola is aware of this issue and is working to understand the cause and provide a resolution to this problem.

Models affected are the VHF models:
A03JAC8JA1AN
A03JAC9JA1AN
A03JAC8JA2AN
A03JAC9JA2AN

There's another thread talking about this also

http://forums.radioreference.com/motorola-forum/290091-minitor-vi-issue.html

I'm of the opinion that it's a hardware problem that will not be able to be fixed with software. They'll probably fix it right in manufacturing but who knows when. A bigger problem for them is now they are manufacturing in China (Vs Taiwan for the 5) so they are not allowed on GSA with it (or any federal funding such as federal grants) because of the Trade Agreements Act.

Same issue. Have (5) of the M6's and all have horrible reception compared to M5's. Will not buy any additional.
