I am wondering which system the Minneapolis Police department uses for their radio traffic? Do they use Minneapolis N-S Simulcast, City Center Simulcast, or the Hennepin East system? All of the above? I am programming a scanner for a friend and I am wondering which system would work best at his house in South Minneapolis, near Lake ST and Cedar Ave?

Just in case you are looking for somewhat recent information. . .

Your best bet would be to use the Minneapolis N-S subsystem, for the described location and all you are interested in is Minneapolis Police.

City Center is primarily for state agencies.

Hennepin East might carry some precinct 4 traffic if they are at the fringes and get a better signal from that site. However, in that case, the traffic would get linked back to Minneapolis N-S. So it would be better to scan Minneapolis N-S only because you might miss traffic while the scanner is checking the City Center and Hennepin East.

Old memories of hometown. . . I grew up mere blocks away and still think about Matt's Hamburgers.

Yep, that is what I used for his scanner..... The Minneapolis N-S system.

I haven't been to Matt's in a LONG time but those burgers ARE good.

Funny story about Matt's...... One day, about 15-18 years ago, my boss and I met one of our friends for lunch. Our friend owned a transmission shop in Minneapolis and he did a lot of work for the Minneapolis Police department on their squad cars. We met him at his shop that day and when it was time to for lunch our friend said "I'll drive us to lunch". Well, my boss and I followed him to a MPLS Police squad car parked on the street in front of his shop. He said "get in". My boss was the smallest of us so we made him get in the back seat, I rode front passenger and our friend drove us to lunch in a MPLS Police squad car. lolol. Parking can be a problem around Matt's bar during lunch time but surprisingly when you're driving a police car, parking is a piece of cake! lolol.

Thanks for the reply.
