About three days ago my Uniden 296D went silent on the Minneapolis PD talk groups while the Fire Dept. talk groups remained active and this has persisted. A brief talk group search tonight found the familiar dispatcher voices on numerous talk group DEC numbers that you don't list. In a first-pass look, it looks like they are using the same frequencies, but have shifted talk group numbers. There seem to be more talk groups, suggesting that they have reorganized their work groups. I'm also now hearing some suburban police talk groups on these frequencies, suggesting the system is being reorganized to allow closer coordination between police departments in the metro area, although that is only my guess. Additionally, I am hearing radio techs on these freqs making test calls to various large building locations in downtown Minneapolis, suggesting that they are revamping the system to be more reliable in the interior of the city.

i went to my BC796D and on my radio all the minneapolis police talk groups are still running in the same order as when they 1st went p-25 digital.
talk group 1 minneapolis police 3rd,south
#2 minneapolis police 4th ,north

Thanks

Thanks for the reply. I'll investigate. Any ideas why I am receiving MFD but not MPD on the same channels? The talk groups are not locked out.

mike6454,

Which frequency group are you hearing MPD on, Minneapolis City Center, Minneapolis N/S Simulcast, or what? I have been hearing them on City Center freqs, and now all I'm getting are the FD, Park Police and Animal Control. Weird.

Eureka!

Mike 6454, you were right, I raised a false alarm. The problem was my radio settings. The manual was no help, but by using TrunkStar software, I was able to find the wrong setting I must have accidentally caused while handling the radio. Thanks again.

Can't get any Minneapolis Police Activity

Hello, I am having the same problem as the original post, but I don't know how to fix it. I can't find any frequencies that transmit Minneapolis Police (mainly North Minneapolis). I can pick up Hennepin Co. Fire and other suburb chatter but no Minneapolis Police. Can anyone help??

Minneapolis police are on the digital 800mhz system. Unless you have that programed in, you wont hear them.

You also won't be able to listen to most of MPD unless you have the actual Minneapolis control channels entered into the scanner.
