Is there much military traffic in the Minnesota area? And if so what frequencies are the good ones to monitor?

Yeah, I hear yo MN ANG doing Air-Air and Air-ground training with some regularity here in the Chicago area. Try the CARMA web site or Yahoo group for a complete list of Midwest frequencies and plug them in. It is not a regularly scheduled event. Alot occurs on the weekend, some occurs week days and some at night. Minnesota is a big state, so it's dendant on where you are at in the state as well.
Good Luck

Army NG helo's St. Paul 41.500 FM, 126.200, 241.000, 347.700
AF Reserves 934th AW Minneapolis 282.675, 252.100, 351.200
ANG 133rd AW Minneapolis 311.200, 240.150, 243.800 , 324.300
ANG 148th FW Duluth 288.900, 138.1500, 138.300, 138.425, 139.725, 139.800, 139.900, 276.400, 293.300, 399.000
Refueling track AR109 across northern MN 320.900, 327.100, 327.600, 343.500

Also look at the reference section of this webpage for Camp McCoy and Volk Field, WI.
There is a lot of activity there with units from ND, MN, IA, IL, IN and MI going there pretty often.

Also as mentioned go to the Chicago Area Monitor Association website
http://www.carmachicago.com/frqif.htm Click on the red area for the new section.
They have a wonderful 70 page milcom section that will give you a lot of info.
There is also a great refueling guide on that website as well.

BTW sent you a PM the other day related to one of your other posts

Regards
Dan

Dan,

Thanks for the CARMA MilAir Comms PDF link. Wow what a nice document.

I wish something like that was availible in my Area. I hear the BrushCreek/ Buckeye MOA stuff pretty well.

I forgot to mention frequency pairs that seem to be in use by the Duluth ANG. If you hear them on either frequency, then monitor its pair as well.
If you have a scanner that has dual watch capability, these are good candiates for those memories.
138.150 & 399.000 when in Big Bear MOA
138.300 & 276.400 when in Beaver MOA
138.425 & 293.300 when in Snoopy MOA
