• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

I decided to put in the old Capitol 2-Way Communications GE EDACS Trunked system tonight and I had a couple of surprises. First off, the control channel was clearly 854.2375. So I put in the other system frequencies that I am aware of and I get some calls after a while. I look up the license and I find the licensee name is now Minnesota Mobile Telephone Company, Inc WNHJ781

It clearly was sending conversations to 854.4875. So I look that up and it shows WPDG791 http://dettifoss.fcc.gov/acweb/viewer/viewframeset.jsp?__executableid=208&id =200935&connectionhandle=q7whmBpUho%2btg5MUYUgZxq1%2brbtKHLkAq7RmnwSbegyRYEMWxKR8m0pEgUAaXCZHB8MSDImIexxWt7foY7wBuIMEv18lQxjMCQCTjGYfVbM%3d&closex=false&outputname=%2fgenmen%5fa%2fdb%5f19%2fd%5fadmin%5fl%5flm.roi&saveoutput=false&outputType=ROI&serverurl=http%3a%2f%2fdettifoss%3a8088&volume=dettifoss8
What is interesting to me about all of this is that the old original four frequencies that I had for Capitol was:

852.2375 T1 EDACS
853.2375 T2 EDACS
854.2375 T3 EDACS
854.4875 T4 EDACS

But now it appears as if both 852.2375 AND 853.2375 are licensed to Nextel. That seems to leave 854.2375 and 854.4875 and they are still in use. 854.4875 (WPDG791) is licensed all by itself, but 854.2375 also lists 857.5875 AND 858.6375. So now I am wondering is they are active. According to the FCC, they were just added on 5/17/2006. If they are part of the system, we need to determine what LCN each frequency is. I think 854.2375 is still LCN 3 and 854.4875 is still LCN 4. If that is true, could 857.5875 and 858.6375 simply be LCN 1 and LCN 2, in that order, replacing the original LCN 1 and LCN 2? Or vice-versa? I don't have that much EDACS experience. I did listen to Bloomington EDACS back when, but not that often.
