Hello,

Starting around mid-February, PGFD will begin using CAD on their Main Channel. In addition - these talk groups are basically swapping
1133 - Currently Main Dispatch = will become Ops1
1135 - Currently Ops1 = will become Main Dispatch

These changes are supposed to happen starting around 2/14, per the video I saw😎
Just FYI…..didn’t want to submit database until it actually took effect 🙂

My understanding is Locution or similar synthetic voice solution will be used for dispatch.

Does dispatch remain 8A1 and Ops 1 8A2 or do they reverse?
Yes just the talk group numbers change is my understanding. When I asked if they are going to migrate to FIRST - they were like, “what’s that?”🤣 so I don’t think a migration is imminent - at least on the FD side.

Yea, no migration to FIRST - no need for that but there probably is a FIRST backup zone in their radios that nobody knows (or has received training) about yet.

I'm doubting that there will be any talk group number change, but temporary knob position changes I'm pretty sure will happen as the transition moves forward. I saw a message that talked about tg numbering changes, but mixed in zone ids that made no sense, so...

I must say - I’ve learned a lot from your posts 👍🏽I’m trying learn more about this SDS100 I got and I hope I can contribute more. Again, thanks a lot. 🙂

Automated Synth voice dispatch, basically going FFX County way, for which is basically just across the river from PG county

Modern radio programming practice is to have a live dispatcher on channels (knob positions) 1 and 16. This ensures that a FF in distress can rotate the channel selector to its stop in any direction and find a monitored channel. Synthetic voice dispatch eliminates the need for a live dispatcher on a channel, which I assume will be on 8A2. Similar logic would be used on zones B and C.

The date I've seen for the changes to start is Monday the 14th at 0700. There is also talk about a channel change for mutual aid companies in southern PG county, so listen for that.

TG changes just went into effect. I’m seeing dispatch on the old A2 (1135) and Ops on A1 (1133). I’m going to check with unitrunker later to try to see what the south side configuration is (I can only see the North right now)

I revised the programming in the G5 - I think I will be in the Laurel area today at some point.

Looks like a new TG - 1153 - seems to be a human voice dispatch (8A1)…..
"8A1" describes a zone and knob position: 8 = MWCOG Prince Georges; A = Zone A; 1 = channel selector position 1. Although tg 1153 may be a human voice dispatch, that talk group many not be assigned to 8A1 (which is likely still tg 1133 unless new programming was pushed to subscribers.)

I remember when DCFD did it for a while - until calls on Malcolm X Blvd. came out on CAD as “Malcolm the 10th Blvd” 😊🤣 now THAT was funny, Back to humans they went 😎
When I was trucking with one of the big companies on a dedicated account, the logging and messaging system would mispronounce my first name and read my middle initial (D) as a roman numeral. "Stephen (mispronounced "Stefan") the five hundreth _______" ....
The first time I heard that, I said "what did I just hear?". I wondered who did the programming that would read things like that. Apparently it's common.

8A2 was using synthetic voice today for dispatching - first time I've been in the county to hear it. Could have been in effect for a while, but it's the first time I heard it. Better than some other solutions I've heard.

Also had training today in Montgomery County Station 34's plush training room - been a while since I've spent more than a few minutes in one of their stations. Their FSA system will announce calls for the station's resources using with synthetic voice in addition to the human voice over the radio.
