I see now and hear now Minot PD is digital it sound ok sometimes but when you have one repeater it doesn't work good you need many repeater like ward county system 6 repeater system. Ward County will make the switch to digital but the question is how are they going to page Fire and EMS over digital? You can't No company and even Motorola do not make a digital pager. I hope Minot FD does not go digital there has been many Firefighter killed over there digital radio in the USA. Just look on youtube Orlando FD had to go back to analog becuase it was hard to talk in a fire. Also the funny thing is I heard there is a mandate to switch to digital No there is not a mandate, but a mandate to be narrowband by 2013 for example Frequency 155.80000 is not narrowband Frequency 155.81825 is narrowband.

155.800 will still be used after it is narrowbanded, dispatch paging will be analog, the radio traffic can be digital on the same frequency. Here in ohio paging takes place in analog, for fire/ems, then simulcast on analog or digital trunking dispatch talkgroup for counties that use trunking. new pagers are narrowband compliant. the county could license a new paging only frequency ,then use the current frequency for digital.

humm-- next time I am minot I will have to check that out.. I was in Minot for a whole week and had my new PSR-800 picking up stuff during the blizzard.

I will have to do a search of the freq's in the area and post them next time... I am off to the oil fields of OK not ND this rotation :(

analog paging-- Yes we still do that too. Dispatch keys both buttons at the same time. Analog pagers are getting expensive to repair. Digital text pagers you can buy 3 for the repair cost of one. Not to mention lease is about to expire on tower.

Digital pagers- Yes I have one.. text message pager... any cell phone too... Works great I am 500+ miles away from my dept. and get a call.. So sad and exciting at the same time.

Digital radio's are tough on fireground ops. to say the least... Tons of radios(men) in a small area all wanting info. in and out. We actually are looking into a digital repeater system for that problem of reduced signal strength.. Not sure were that is going within the dept....

Now I will have some home work when I come back to God's country... North Dakota!

I have been asked by people what is that weird sound on Minot PD channel with they talk it sounds like encryption. It is not sometimes the repeater and digital signals have trouble I know Mclean Co. had the problem now that have abandoned there digital channel and went back to analog. In my opinion Minot PD analog system was better than this crap digital.

That to me is bad and I would not my family or I in danger with this Digital. I hate Digital so much it is a waste and money to. I hope a officer does not get hurt or killed trying to call on the radio. It has happened to Firefighter in the USA in past year were digital radio we linked to Firefighter getting killed becuase they could not call on there radio's

I have heard this before myself. Seems to be alot of you were digital can you 10-9 from dispatch also. I just wonder who talked them into going digital instead of narrow band.

I have heard that Ward County is not going digital for now since the problems seems to be going on with Minot PD just think if the city is having a hard time hearing sometimes just think of the county area it would be even worst over a large area just the other night a Minot PD officer said he was having trouble with his radio on digital it would come in digital noice garbled. Also the Minot PD have a new cars video below
