I'm looking for frequencies for the Mirage hotel in Vegas.

Also, I assume from the database that Las Vegas PD is using conventional VHF high band?

Michael, Thanks for the info. Looks like the Mirage has several different trunked systems in operation. I guess I'll find out more when I get there next month.

As far as Las Vegas, every web site I found seems to indicate that Las Vegas police are on VHF hi band conventional. It seems that the Las Vegas fire department is using the Clark County 800 MHz trunked system. I guess I'll find out when I get there! 8)

The thanks goes to Lindsay and the great website where people contribute information. In the case of the recent hotel additions they were the efforts of another that lugged all their logging equipment to LV and let it run.

This website is a joint/community effort, not the efforts of only one. ;)

BTW, any info you dig up while not at the tables would be greatly appreciated.

i wonder why the casinos, of all businesses, don't use Nextel for operations?

seems to me they are a paranoid lot - too paranoid to be using a Plain Jane Mot trunked system day-to-day...

Maybe they prefer regular and consistant communications over complex can be "issue ridden" easy to upset new-fangled which-a-ma-dingies.

Don't forget how long it took the casino industry to embrace computer controlled gaming devices. ;) When your dealing(pun) with that much money you aren't likely to risk it on the latest and greatest shiney toy. The tried and true is hard to sell against, in what is in actuality a very conservative industry.

Many of the casinos are using UHF LTR now as well. I'd say about as many are using LTR as Motorola 800/900.

i'm at TI right now (Treasure Island/Mirage) and keep getting distracted in the casinos by a Nextel-Like "BEEP BEEP" that seems to come from the card tables...

anyone have any idea what that is?

seen some suckers...er, people walking around yakking into their Nextel phones, but no casino personnel seem to use them (that i have seen, at least)...

As for now Metro uses VHF hi 150 freqs. I have heard that they may be going to the county trunked system, but for now they are still on VHF. The info listed on this site seems to be mostly correct. http://www.radioreference.com/modules.php?name=RR&ctid=1745 Also you might try www.freqofnature.com as there is some good info there. Make sure to program in the tac channels, and the Vice channel. Very intersting stuff happens here. Vice seems to be simplex, and you hear EVERYTHING; even the cops trying to proposition the girls. Henderson PD uses the county trunked system with the main TG 57616 used for dispatch.

As For the TI, they have their own Motorola type 2 800 system that they use, but that doesn't necessarily mean they don't use nextel. I haven't been hear long enough to learn what everyone here uses.

MtnBiker2005 get me a pass too! I would love to go to CES!! ;) Barnum and Baileys is supposed to be the worlds greatest show, but I don't think there was a CES when they got that award!

I have worked in casinos for the better part of the last 20 years. You need to understand what is usualy discussed over the radio at a casino.

Most of the traffic is the "Room 1234 needs more towles" type of trafic. General maintance type traffic. The security chanels are also a lot of plan jane type stuff. "Unit 25 go to pit 7 for an esscort" The escort could be a customer to their room or paper work to the main cage. It could be a money escort but those are usualy done at pre set times with added numbers of officers.

Slot operations trafic is usualy along the lines of "Need a Floorperson to Bank 123" or "Mechanic, ther is a light out on a machine on Bank 456"

Any traffic concerning specific customer information is transfered either by face to face comunications or by phone, both cell and regular. Some of the larger hotels have a cell site inside the hotel to facilitate the use of hte phones.

Large Hotels would have 1 or 2 slot chanels along with 1 or 2 building maintance chanels. Hotel opps (maids etc) would use also use 1 or 2 depending on size of hte hotel. Add 2 or so for security and 2 for casino cleaning crew along with the resturants and players club and you can see where the use of Nextel would not be very practical. The larger Hotels in Vegas may have as many as 1000 employes on site at any 1 time.

PRO-95-Don't forget how long it took the casino industry to embrace computer controlled gaming devices.

I was working on computer controled slot machines back in the early 1980's. They tried CRT displays in that era but customers would not play them. Most customers were of the age that they did not trust computers. The outward display looked like traditional slot machines but the insides were computers.
