Some of these items are really tricky - Canyon de Chelley is a NPS site in a Indian Nation - Petrified Forest is a National Park, not a National Forest

Some of these PLs might be repeater input PLs versus repeater output PLs

Some of these listings might not be totally acurate

Re: 170.05, petrified forest, I've only heard P25 on my last several trips through the area. I submitted the NAC to the DB.

154.905 100Hz “Radio room will be 10-7 for one hour.” Arizona or Nevada based on time given. Freq is licensed to KOH305 - Fredonia Port of Entry, KLL476 - State of Arizona, Navajo Mtn San Juan County Utah,.

I can definitely hear some high-ground Fredonia stuff (tx sites are usually on Kanab Hill, UT or Moccasin Hill, AZ) from home. I drive by the Fredonia Port of Entry several times a month, and it's never open, plus the only antenna I see there is a CB antenna. I can sometime hear --just barely-- Navajo Mountain, but the rare transmissions I hear on 154.905 are probably too strong to be it, so more likely a high-terrain site near Fredonia.

Any ideas?

155.190/167.9Hz simplex heard SEP 2011 in use by radio techs in Arizona trouble-shooting repeaters. Mentioned that the equipment is similar to what's at Jacob Lake & Black Rock. One tech was “Josh.”

Don't know where these guys were, but were out late one night, I believe talking simplex from mountaintop to mountaintop, doing a lot of very technical repeater trouble-shooting. With Jacob Lake being Coconino County & Black Rock possibly being a Mohave County location, I got the impression these guys are comm techs for an Arizona state agency.

Despite monitoring the freq for over a year, this was the first time I heard them.

Any ideas?

The frequency is not heavily used but can be interesting at times. It is used by the MVD aka Motor Vehicle Division, part of the AZ Dept. of Transportation. It is not unusual for a remote station to be talking to HQ in Phoenix. Sometimes you will hear a motor vehicle registration request given over the radio. Once in a great while it is active in Kingman.

What you heard appears to be the input 155.190 which feeds 155.475, a VHF mutual aid repeater in AZ. The one that uses the tone of 167.9 is VAIRS-5. The VHF repeater is usually linked to a UHF one which one could hear on 460.375, also a repeater. In some areas of the state these are also linked to 866.0125 making it easy for one agency to talk to another even if each operate on a different band.
