Greetings everyone!

When I run my 996 P2 alongside my SDS 200 I noticed that some transmissions get missed on my SDS200. Is there any setting or setting(s) that I have got wrong on the 200 vs the 996, that I need to address? Any pros out there, please help!

Thank you.

Try and scan only one system that has that issue and try to see on the 996 what frequency the 996 show when the SDS200 skipped that call. Then on the SDS200 you stop scan by pushing Channel and enter that frequency and then Channel button again and then Function and within 2 sec you push 7 to toggle IFX for that frequency. Then continue to monitor to see if the IFX setting helped.

If you have that system programmed in a Favorite list you can also change the filter setting. Go to Manage Favorites and select you favorite list, then the system and then the site and finally the filter. Try the Normal setting then the Invert. Then try Wide Normal and Wide Invert and finally Off. Between each change you will have to monitor the system again to see if any of the filter setting did any improvement.

All of the above.

And what is it that you're trying to listen to? Is it a trunked system or is it conventional? If it's trunked, is it P25? What type of P25 system if so? If not, analog signals on the SDS models can suffer greatly from the wrong filter settings as mentioned. The SDS models are a completely different animal and they need a little more TLC. It's all part of the learning curve of owning those models. Once you find the right combination of settings I find they work just as well with analog as any other scanner does, in my case anyway. YMMV.

Without going deep, this question usually elicits: Do you have close call or priority channel active? I've never experimented to see if they cause missed transmissions. Just another simple thing to look at.

There are 2 systems I'm monitoring. Both P25 Phase 1. I applied the filter settings to the one missing the most calls, The local city system. That looks like that is where my problem lies, so I'll wait and see if that is indeed the case.

Thanks for that.
