I live in the Greenville area of SC and scan local police, fire and EMS on both conventional and the Palmetto 800 system using both the Uniden SDS100 and the Uniden 436. Several weeks ago the Boiling Springs FD in Greenville County (conventional) went dark on both scanners. There have been no changes in their frequencies according to the data base. There have been no issues with any of the other departments or frequencies I monitor. I've deleted and reloaded the listed frequencies for Boiling Springs FD with no luck. Has anyone else in the Greenville area noticed this? Any ideas? How long does it take for the database to catch up to any departmental changes.

Changes don't occur unless someone submits new information to the database so that the update can be made.

Once submitted by a user and processed by one of the area DB admins, the change is instantaneous. However it may take a week before it becomes populated in updates via software provided by the manufacturer. As an example, Uniden pulls the Radio Reference data every weekend and updates occur to their database on Mondays. Users need to update their Sentinel DB each week.

If anyone knew they probably would have made the submission. So it's probably a safe assumption to say that no one knows yet.

You might want to make an inquiry in the SC state forum rather than the general scanning forum. You'll be asking a more focused audience.

PS - doing an FCC license search I see that Boiling Springs FD is also licensed 155.250 and that frequency is not listed in the DB. Have you tried that frequency?

As recommended, come on over to the SC forum and post your question regarding Boiling Springs FD in Greenville County (not to be confused with the Boiling Springs FD in Spartanburg County, or the FD in Boiling Springs, NC). Someone reading that forum may know about a change to their radio usage.

As the RR Database administrator for South Carolina, I can tell ou that there have been no submissions to RR regarding any changes to Boiling Springs FD or any other Greenville County fire departments.

A good guess would be that they've moved their comms to Palmetto 800. The county passed a tax increase a couple of years ago to pay for comm upgrades for all FDs, EMS, Sheriff, etc to move them to Palmetto 800, So it's logical to think they'll move there.

Set up your scanners to pick up unidentified talkgroups on the Greenville site of Palmetto 800. They'll probably be using a talkgroup in the Greenville County range, which is 44000-44499, and also possible 60000. You'll have to listen and determine the new groups, and then submit to RR so I can update the database.
