No, not in my truck. The tranny is Ok in it. But my Pro 96 seems to be only picking up some of the metro Nashville, Tn fire dept activity. I loaded the vscanner. what do I not have set up? I am used to old analog scanning, but the new stuff is foreign to me. Also, when it does lock on to a call, the reception is very "choppy". Seems as if I am only hearing half of what is being sent.

If I understand you correctly, you are using the Vscanner file that came with the 96. I have read that these files are dated and may need updating for some areas. You might try asking in the Tennesse Forum if anybody has a current Nashville Vscanner folder they'd be willing to share with you. You're probably also going to need to get the Win96 program ( www.starrsoft.com )and 20-289 programming cable (from Radio Shack).

As for your reception problem, you might need a better antenna. Radio Shack, among others, sells an antenna specifically designed for 800 MHz reception. It's a good antenna, well worth the money.

Oh, those missing transmissions? They're in the same place as all the socks the disappear in the laundry!

I would program a bank with the correct controller freq and an Alt if it has one. Operate as Controller only mode. Run in open mode to find talk groups. The V files for South Carolina are out of date because they are installing new towers with a few more to go. Yours may not be correct. The V folders may be a good idea but I never trust any data unless I program it myself. Good Luck
