BC125AT: Missing Transmissions

I recently bought a 125AT and so far it has worked fairly well. The issue I am having is when I hear the fire department (behind my house) get dispatched, I hear the dispatch tone and sometimes I can hear what the dispatcher is saying in the station (ie, what the nature of the call is) and sometimes I only hear the dispatch tone then a minute later I can hear the dispatcher say the ambulance is responding to the address and I can't hear what the nature of the call is. Is this blocked? Is it my scanner? Is it the signal? Some insight would be appreciated. Thanks.

Some firehouses have alerting systems which use the internet, phone lines, or even a different frequency to alert the station, so it may not be heard over the radio or may be delayed.

It could be a lot of things. If you could provide us with a link to the system (county and state) that might help give some ideas.

From time to time I'll hear dispatch tones go out and if there is a little hesitation from the dispatcher, the scanner resumes and locks in on another channel. But that is just one of numerous reasons. Knowing a little more about the system would be helpful.
