Mississippi Barge Tugboat frequencies?

Does anyone know of - or is there a listing in the WIKI that I can't seem to locate - of Upper Mississippi barge traffic frequencies? Anyone around the Twin Cities area scan them or have any info they would like to share?

Check out the Coast Guard web page.That's a good source of shipping infr set your scanner's search mode to cover 156.055 to 157.425.This'll cover all US marine radio freqs.(156.8 is F-16;hailing channel).

You can see the location of some of the tow's (the big ones) at

There are usually 2-3 tow's up river most days, some times as many as 5

Many talk up and down on the river using HF Frequencies. I can listen in based on conditions. I'm in the suburbs of NYC !

How about on HF? Do the companies still use them for barge to office traffic?

if they do, they must license their frequencies differently or with a national itinerant...

I looked through FCC licenses for Ramsey Hennepin and Dakota Counties and couldn't find anything related to shipping in the HF spectrum...
