To start a little over zero knowledge. I live in Gallman MS 39083 and looking at Uniden BCD436Hp or Home Patrol II. Best I can tell is that Copiah County is not simulcast but have 2 antennaes? Also your suggestions for fire, police/sherrif, ambulance/EMS, etc? I understand subjectivness of recommendations. One last question since Amazon Prime Day is this week, has Amazon ever had these on Prime Day in the past?
Thanks guys!

Plug in Copiah SO, Crystal Springs PD, Hazelhurst PD, EOC , MHP Troop C, any of the volunteer fire departments. There is a lot of activity in Copiah County. Lincoln , Simpson, SO'S, Magee PD, Brookhaven PD and any of their volunteer fire departments are usually active.

That is correct. The Copiah County sites are not simulcast. Whlle there are some simulcast sites on the MSWIN system, the database shows that they are limited to Rankin County, Hinds County, and DeSoto County.

The MSWIN system is a P25 Phase II system. Scanners that are capable of receiving MSWIN include:

Also CSFD (City), Hazlehurst FD (City), not sure what TG ASAP EMS is on. Also MHP Troop M out of Brookhaven as they are very active too, especially on Highway 51 and I 55 , from Wesson south. Copiah Medical Center is on the regional med TG's, and has 155.3400 statewide ER net as well. Oh, and Wesson PD and Co Lin PD share a TG. You also may catch Jefferson County SO, or fire as well. Forgot to mention Hinds SO, and Fire, and AMR in Hinds.

The HomePatrol 2 cannot be upgraded to receive DMR or NXDN. The PSR-800 may possibly be upgraded to receive DMR if the new owners of Whistler resume the legacy upgrade program. The WS1080, WS1088, WS1095, and WS1098 can decode DMR. The TRX-1 and TRX-2 can decode DMR and NXDN. You can use the free Whistler EZ Scan programming software. Be advised that none of the Whistler scanners can trunk track DMR or NXDN. The BCD325P2, BCD996P2, BCD436HP, BCD536HP, SDS100, and SDS200 can decode and trunk track DMR and NXDN with paid upgrades. Hinds and Rankin Counties use simulcast sites. If you want to receive them reliably, a SDS100 or SDS200 will be required. Simulcast distortion results in missed transmissions and garbled audio depending upon your location in relation to the towers. None of the Whistler scanners handle simulcast well. The BCD436HP and BCD536HP are slightly better decoding simulcast sites than the BCD325P2 and BCD996P2. The BCD325P2 and BCD996P2 can use the free FreeSCAN programming software for programming P25 systems. For programming DMR or NXDN, you will need to use paid software. The BCD436HP, BCD536HP, SDS100, and SDS200 scanners can use the free Uniden Sentinel programming software. When you decide to purchase a scanner, I will be happy to help with the programming. I already have most of the MSWIN and Copiah County talkgroups in an Excel file. I also have the conventional frequencies. All I need to do is to copy and paste them into whatever software you are using. You will then be able to use the file I attach to program your scanner.

I use a BCD536HP and can receive AMR, HINDS SO, JACKSON PD, CLINTON PD, FD, AND HINDS CO. FIRE as well as MHP with no problems. Also, Copiah is in MHP TROOP C district. You can also receive Lincoln, Jefferson, Simpson counties along with all the agencies in those counties. This includes MHP TROOP M out of Brookhaven.

Are the 2 simulcast sites in Hinds County still in use? The licenses show expired in 2022. They are still listed in the database. Thanks!

I'm not sure. I get a signal from Hinds County Simulcast 2, so I guess at least 1 may still be in operation.

Both of these 2 sites are active. I have logged traffic on both Hinds County Simulcast 1 and Hinds County Simulcast 2.

Yes they are still online, just have not renewed licensing. MS is notorious for letting licenses expire, and using illegally. *Cough, cough Brookhaven using a freq for 20 years after expiring!*
