• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

I wanted to post here and let everyone know the customer service at Missouri Radio (http://www.moradio.com) is absolutely horrible. I recently ordered an Icom F70T from them and they reassured me several times it was indeed capable of being field programmable. That was in fact the basis for that entire order, to find a field programmable replacement for our current fleet of radios. I placed the order, and I must say received the radio in a timely matter. But when i inquired with them about how to enable field programming they had no idea how. I was given a tech support number for Icom, called them and was told by Icom that the dealer must request the instructions from them. Then spoke with Missouri Radio about this and was assured they would handle it and forward me the instructions as soon as they received them. Two days later i then received an e-mail from Missouri Radio stating that the FCC will not allow the instructions be shared, and that they suggest using the PC software for editing and adding frequencies. However they went on in the e-mail to say if I didn't wish to use the PC software to do this then the radio would need to be returned to them for modifications and that they didn't have instructions on how to use the field programming function. I replied and asked if they didn't have instructions on how to use the field programming function then what modifications would they be making? They have simply refused to reply to that e-mail and I haven't heard from them since. I've since found a much more helpful Icom dealer and have placed an order for our replacement radios from them. I merely wished to give a heads up to any prospective radio buyers out there, that if it were me looking I would pass Missouri Radio by and go with one of the much more helpful dealers out there.

They are not an Authorized Dealer. Probably part of the reason why service was not what it should have been.

Although technically they were correct. Enabling Field Programming mode is not something that should be done on Part 90 radios. There are a few exceptions (Government Agencies) to the rule, but unless you are a Government Agency Field Programming Mode is a no-no.
