NAC codes for MSWIN are used to know which sites are lined up in each zone as subsets, and for users of the SDS series scanners, you can actually use the NAC's to only scan certain sites. Also, for actual system radios, If there is trunking failure, the site can be used by NAC. It acts as CTCSS/DCS for P25.

If you are doing a band search and run across some unknown frequency with P25 voice traffic the NAC can help identify who the user is.
Only true for conventional P25. On a trunked system the NAC only identifies which site your picking up. The WACN and SysID will tell you what system your listening too.
