Been lurking around for a while thought I'd finally share my ride, with current and older set ups.

At the moment i only have one radio.
A Simoco 9022, UHF, programmed for my volunteer fire brigade.
The radio is running off a stainless whip, i also have a glass mount antenna on the car which is tuned for 477mHz which is our UHF Citizens Band.

And an antenna on the front which is for my phone cradle.

Older set-ups have included scanners and various CB's

When not in the car i have my XTS300R, Pager and GPS which i carry around.
The GPS is mainly used for fire fighting.

I've recently started buying gear to get a shack started in the house.

Man even the Japanese cars are cool down under. That's the biggest trunk I've ever seen on a Japanese car! I saw the other post with the Ford Falcon, cool cars you have down there. And nice setup too.

Beautiful setup!

What radio is that above the Uniden scanner? I have seen it (or something similar) in police cars in Australia but never knew who/what model or make it is.

Thanks :)

Thanks for all the nice comments

Yes, the Diamante is the more luxury version.
Electric seats & leather. Things like that

The design looked familiar. Pretty nice car

Are those Simoco radios expensive? I've seen a few people from Australia using Simocos.

Nice setup there Alexmc!

I like the car and the RFI antenna setup.
Thanks for sharing the photo's!

The Magna was Mitsubishi Australia's locally produced large car from the 1980's until recently when the company closed the South Australian manufacturing plant.
The sales of locally produced cars were not high enough to justify keeping the plant in operation.
It is a shame, as there have been many jobs lost as a result.

Simoco radio's were once known as Philips TMC. Philips got out of the PMR business and sold out to Simoco which is a UK based company.

Check out ComGroup Australia for the local suppliers of Simoco equipment.
The quality is much the same as Motorola, is cheaper and it is easier to obtain parts and programming.

Nice setup and nice car! Is that the stock steering wheel?

Can I ask what the "P" (or what appears to be that) to the right of your number plate is for?

I think it is neat to see how radio guys and gals do installs in other parts of the world. With world class cars coming from the variious builders it gives us ideas what can be done to cars and trucks other than Ford, Chevy, and Chrysler. Keep up the good work. I am partial to Ford Explorer installs.

Aussies have P plates to indicate they are a provisional driver. It goes L plate for learners, red P plate for provisional drivers, green P plate for P2 drivers. There are speed limits and limits as to alcohol and engine capacity for the different tiers.

Alocohol capacity?

I'm guessing it's another regulation like number of passengers, driving hours, etc for drivers who don't have a full license.

I know that in Ontario they were also trying to pass a law making it illegal for drivers under 21 to drive after consuming alcohol (even a can of beer), but I don't know what happened with that.

In Victoria,
It is illegal for P platers (or probationary license) to have any alcohol in the blood when driving.
There are even restrictions on the number of passengers they can carry.
This has come about in response to a number of fatal collisions where the driver has been alcohol affected with a car load of passengers.
