To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:
Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.
If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.
To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.
The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.
For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Unfortunately, no. Unless it is also made under another brand, CHIRP doesn't program it. When I do a search, the only thing that comes up is the JC-8829. Judging by the lack of responses to this post, I don't think this radio is very popular.
Love the sound quality and the color screen, but programming manually is a mess. I have looked every ware. Does no-one have the software for this radio?
I also bought one from Temu. This is a great little radio that was dirt cheap but no software to be found. It must be out there somewhere but so far I haven't found it. It's very close in looks and operation to several other radios but their software doesn't work. I planned on using it to monitor aircraft but it's just too hard to program manually. 1pc 8811 Uhf Vhf Frs Two Way Handheld Wireless Walkie Talkie - Sports & Outdoors - Temu
They are on eBay, Temu and other sites. Nice full color display, great audio transmit and receive. The manual is lacking. Still have not figured out how to change/add a channel name.
I tried the software, but the radio won't read or write. I downloaded the driver software and got a cable that I think would work, but it won't let me do anything to the radio. Oddly, it shows an active USB port when I look under "Settings" in the software.
I used the programming cable for a baofeng UV-5 HT and the RT software. I did have to select the comm port and read the radio to make any changes.
I already had the USB driver Installed
I'll have to try another computer and see what happens. I have an older, Windows 8 computer that sometimes works with software that my Windows 11 machine doesn't.
Hi,
I'm new to this I got it on Temu too. I wanted to use this basically to communicate to my Car group when we do weekend cruises. However, once I started fiddling with it I figured out "search" found my local Fire Dept, and "sort of saved it. I'm greener than green.Lol
