Larsen 150/450/800 user here. Performs very well on 150/450, haven't had the chance to monitor much of the 800 MHz spectrum with it. This is presently being used as a base antenna.

I have not heard much about the Maxrad model, but they are probably pretty close in performance for monitoring.

Larson 150/450/800 here too. I found to my ears it works just as good on 800 MHz as a dedicated band specific 800 MHz antenna I used to run. Now I can hear on VHF and UHF too.

I can't comment on the Maxrad as I've never used one, but I am a Larsen 150/400/800 user for the past four years or so. I was using a Nil Jon Super-M mobile, and decided I wanted to try the Larsen. Needless to say, I have felt no need to switch out the Larsen like I did the Nil Jon. I don't see that I will ever want to either. I use one on my truck and one in my second floor shack, magmounted to an old cookie sheet. Gives me the reception I'm looking for.

I just bought the BMAX-SCAN 1000 and have been using it for alittle over ninety days now. I get good reception on all the bands except the Nellis AFB (400's) The Larsen 150/450/800 does alot better in all the areas so I will be switching back to the Larsen. Maybe I can figure a way of using the BMAX-SCAN100 at the house.
