I need a great mobile mag mount for AZDPS and RWC. Been trying to use Tram with R174 cable the reception is very erratic on the freeways and the SMA connector always come loose.

Looks like a good 7/800MHz band antenna would be what you need. If you use the scanner for VHF/UHF also, there's some good multiband antennas that work well.

And RG-174 coax is pretty lossy at the higher frequencies. Couple that with picket fencing and other things that impact performance, and it can be an issue.

I'd strongly recommend one of these two antennas:
Both Larsen and EMWave are well established companies that make excellent products. I have 30 year old Larsen antennas that work like new. EMWave is becoming my new favorite. Either one will work well and give you excellent VHF/UHF and 7-800MHz band performance.

As for the magnetic mount:

Make that a third vote for the Larsen 150/450/758. Probably the best multiband antenna out there.

I have the previous version ( except it’s the NMO version, without the spring ) and it does all bands very well.

I'd add to MMKenna's PCTEL MAXRAD mag mount recommendation: We used them extensively in my radio shop when we had to use a mag mount. Rugged, low profile, GOOD magnet. Get the black and you can paint it to match the vehicle color. It all but disappears. Good recommendation in my opinion.

Got the Larsen and the mag mount at HRO today ( I buy local) sitting right here at my desk. Too darn hot in Phoenix right now to switch out the cheapo tram.....
