Hello All:

I will soon be receiving a new Pro-96 and wanted to ask the
members if they had any good mobile mounting suggestions for use in
the car. Leaving the scanner loose in the cup holder or on the seat
is not desirable.

I've already done some searching on different mobile mount options,
but thought I would just ask the group for some suggestions before I
go ahead and give one a try.

P.S. I do want to be able to quickly remove the handheld when I'm not
in the car, if that helps with some suggestions.

Thanks in advance!

I found a nice flat spot in my SUV and use Velcro to attach my HT! Easy in and out, as well as antenna and external antenna connections!!!

Do your RAM MOUNT research here:

http://www.ram-mount.com/ramcat.htm

and here:

http://65.102.174.119/rammount/ramwebcompthumb/RAM Mounting Systems.html

Then do your buying here:

Go to GPSCITY.COM and go to the RAM section. You will find tons o' goodies to make you drool. They are pricey but it will protect your vehicle, radio and yourself. 99% of the components are universal so as you change up your radios you just change a few parts to meet your needs

Depending on the vehicle and your choice of mounting positions you should be able to meet any of your requirements.

I use a hard mount now because of the number of radios I support bit I am rearranging things and the newest scanner (BCD996T) will be DIN mounted. I will be using a flex mount to support my NAV system and temporary installs of the Pro96.

Maybe later the hard mount will go up for sale. :)

Below is the old way. The Pro96 went where the satellite (Sirius) radio located at the bottom is. Soon that stack of stuff will be gone and it will all be mounted within the dash. Before you ask, yes there is room for a passenger. :)

I do the same thing as mass-man....my pro-95 is mounted in my work truck with velcro! Works perfectly, holds it nice and secure. I must have tried just about every type of velcro too see which one will actually work on a dashboard. I found automotive velcro at a local hardware store...and it is made specifically for vinyl dashboards. All the other types didnt stick to well...

Also, if you are going to use this method , be sure to remove the belt clip on your 96 so you get a flat surface to mount the velcro.

You guys must be rednecks to use velcro to mount your scanners. I wonder about you guys.....

Looking at how his 2053 is mounted in his car, then sneaking away :D

You can just bend a little piece of metal so you'll have something to hook a belt clip onto. It really depends on what you are driving, as it might look out of place in a new Caddy. I'll see if I can post a few pics soon.

If you look below the BCT8 there is a square flat mount.

YES it does have VELCRO! :)

That is where the Pro96 goes when it is in the car

Really the pedestal comes up ait the extreme far left front corner of the passenger seat. I does not take away from leg room unless you are too big for the seat. The equipment is above the shifter off to the left some.

It was designed to support Pro-Rally so there is almost always a passenger in the seat.

Soon it will all be gone though.

(better setup)

Take care

I'm not sure that I'd trust a pro96 in one of those as those are the same mount that I bought last year at Dollar Tree. They were sold as cellphone holders, but the "hook" part that is on the end of the arm also matched the XM radios I used. They were all given out to my friends for their XMs.

If you have a Dollar Tree type store, it never hurts to look. It was in a Sanyo brand package.
