Mock Disaster Drill--- SOMEWHERE...

I listened vias ducting which was absolutely fantastic this AM to EMS on 155.9550 MHz, SOMEWHERE,.... Do an mock drill---

Scenario was an aircraft crash on an ANG Base... Metro Ambulance was the main agency that I caught.....

The only thing I think tht I heard that was a mistake was the EMS Supervisor told all units to NOT use lights/sirens.....

I thought the whole purpose of these post 9/11 drills was to test interoperability in a REALISTIC situation....

If you do NOT run Code,... then you must stop at all intersctions/lights in compliance to traffic laws.... As well as not use traffic avoidance techniques.....

If you did this per laws and procedures.... your patients will not have any benifit from the "Golden Hour" rule! Thus causing a lot of mock deaths....

I think someone needs to explain that to that EMS Supervisor.....

This has been an rant.. in the event that a real life situation of such stupidity arose, youd read about it and the following lawsuits for billions of dollars...

They didnt run emergency traffic because the lawyers would have a bona fide real life field day had real people been injured (worse than death in court usually) to save 3.7 seconds on responding to mock catastrophe's.

Many places no longer respond emergency traffic to fire alarms which could be real.

That's why they pre-stage units closer to the scene then they are in real-life, as it balances out. The distaster training is not intended to see how long it takes to get onscene anyways - they know that already. It's intended to train people on callups / communications / triage / transport / etc.

Running code 3 is bad enough when you have too. Running code for a drill would not make since, you are putting everyone at risk when you do not need to.

And FYI 155.955 is the Itinerant Purple Dot freq. Suprised they were using a Color dot freq.

2 huge mock drills that i have volunteered at they have staged the "responding units" less than a quarter mile away from the multiple drill sites...then just released "arriving units" a few minutes apart to simulate their arriving on scene...

why go code and put people at danger when you dont have to... and you know if you have a large amount of rigs/cars goin code in a group you are going to have so many gawkers... then they are going to hit eachother etc... why create un-needed attention when you dont have to?

I think that 151.955 is the purple dot freq, isn't it.... 155.955 has a ton of licenses....

You are correct in that. My fault. I dont know why but I have 155 marked down as purple dot.

wow. Now I have to check all my other freqs lol.

LOL 155.9550 MHz is in the PW Public Safety Pool....
151.955 is Itenerant in the Business Pool.

You don't use lights and sirens for drills. It is a drill, there is no immidiate threat to life or property. The purpose is not to test response time anyway.
