how do i know what "mode" to put my scanner on. ie. fm ct dc am

Beats me I don't even know what kind of scanner you have so no one can answer the question. You need to put in some info [Brand, and what you want to listen to stuff like that]

it is a radio shack p96. i mainly listen to police. any info would be great. thanks!!

I dont know where you're located in NH, but I have a Pro-96 and a Pro-2096 you could clone off if interested. I'm in the Manchester/Londonderry area.
