I just got a message saying All new member who post have to have their message approved - Am I a new member now?

You posted in the Community Announcements and News forum, where all threads are moderated by default. That message is just the default message for moderated posts.

IMO, it's not that unreasonable a request considering the text that shows up when you try to post in that forum. If it isn't possible to have different text for that forum (as opposed to the "you, as a new user, will have your posts reviewed by a moderator" or words to that effect), then perhaps the existing text needs to be amended to indicate that you will see this same message in the CA&N forum no matter who you are.

I changed the sticky subject to something more obvious. I could change the text on the moderated click-through but most will still ignore and click acknowledgement.
