Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

I was thinking about trying to add an antenna jack to the standard charging base for the G1. I did this years ago with a Minitor charger.

Does anyone have the pin diagram for the G1 or know if its even possible to modify an antenna jack on to the charger.

I know they make the amplified charger with the antenna connection but i wanted to keep the small form factor of the standard desk charger

I stumbled upon it a long time ago and it took me a while to find it again.

Man this has got me to thinking about the VHF side of the G5. I guess I can get a second amplified base charger but not sure I want to mess with all that. Does anyone know will the amplified charger antenna still work if unplugged ? I tried to test it here and honestly I get the weather band same in the charger or just holding it, it seems.

It works really well on VHF with it unplugged, and that's how I use mine most of the time. When it's powered on, the slight delay on all of the voice traffic drives me crazy when there's another radio nearby.

Thanks. I honestly prefer the audio out of the pager Vs the power charger. I'll give that a try. Simplifies some things if I need to take it mobile also.
