Activity this morning as I was passing through Kinburn, west of Ottawa...

Broken, but it sounded like radio checks.
They do this regularly, apparently backup for Fleetnet. Not very exciting but occasionally it gets used for live calls.

Could have been an MNR park since they seem to have been reusing this frequency.
In theory yes but I have poked at the new MNR frequencies and not heard anything active around here; especially
on the 149.170/149.605 pair in and around Ottawa.

I think I heard PTAC calls when the tornadoes struck in Sept. 2018, and increased call activity on PCOM.

Last time I was east of Ottawa last year is where I had heard PTAC heard more so.
Ever since the move to fleetnet though, I've never been able to hear PTAC out by Renfrew, however back in the day when PTAC was always used, I had no problem hearing it up this way.

Was the PL Tone 118.8 still present?

Heading up the River Road out of Braeside going to Renfrew, definitely heard radio checks with the Ottawa CCAC.

Do you have a link for the new frequencies?

Well I can finally confirm the PTAC still active. I heard it this morning with the PL 118.8 while conditions were favourable before 8am. I wonder where the repeater is for this? Certainly not as strong as what it used to be many years ago.
