Monitor, and Download, On/Off Settings ?

Hello,

So nice of all of you in helping me out. Really appreciated.
Am in my 80's now, and a lot of the nuances with my new 436 are confusing.
But, getting there (I think)

Using Sentinel, and a 436:

Might someone please give me a simple explanation for:

Monitor On/Off

Download On/Off

Purpose, when to set on or off, etc. ?

Download On means the Favorites List (or Lists) will be programmed to the scanner. Download Off means the Favorites List will not be programmed.

Monitor Off means the Favorites List while still programmed in the scanner, will not be scanned. (You can change this via the scanner keypad if you are away from your computer.)

Monitor On means the Favorites list will be scanned, assuming all other conditions are present (in Range, applicable Quick Keys On, nothing avoided, etc.)

One thing you'll notice is that if Download is Off, you can't turn Monitor On or Off. But when you think about it, it makes sense - how can you monitor a Favorites List that isn't programmed to the scanner?
