Can I monitor the RSSI of a certain frequency without it tracking the system? I might get one and that's a feature I'm looking for, the 436 doesn't do that currently and I need to measure RSSI of a trunking control channel for a system I'm trying to listen to to see where dead spots are in my town.

The 436 can do this 2 ways:

1: Menu/Analyze/Rf Power Plot

2: Menu/Analyze/System Status/Select System/Select Site....

Will not give you a number corresponding to RSSI level but graphs a good indicator of level.

Measuring RSSI

I know that te 436 cant measure RSSI, but I see that the SDS100 CAN measure RSSI. If so, can I lock it onto that particular frequency (IE A P25 control channel) and measure its RSSI continuously?

Yes you can. You'd have to program the CC conventionally and Display RSSI withing the Custom Display Settings.

PERFECT! That's just what I'm looking for.

Proscan reports RSSI, it's also just in the output data stream. So some programing and a GPS should let someone develop a program that could create a GPS file and RSSI values.

- I am NOT a programer -
