Monitoring Hennepin municipalities

Snikliw87's question about monitoring dispatch for Plymouth brings to mind something that I've been wondering about: For those of you who've been monitoring Hennepin county much longer than I have, what useful knowledge could you share about monitoring cities that are dispatched by Hennepin County?

Do these dispatch talkgroups change from day to day, depending on factors such as how much volume there is and how many dispatchers are on in a particular shift? Can I monitor certain cities on North Main one day, and then find them on East Main the next?

What has experience taught you about monitoring these talkgroups?

This was posted in response to a question I asked about HC a while back... maybe it can help.

Plymouth & Wayzata and the rest of the cities around Lake Minnetonka and west of there are on the South channel. Brooklyn Park, Brooklyn Center, New Hope, Crystal and Robbinsdale are on the East channel. Maple Grove, Champlin, Dayton, Rogers and HCSO are on the north channel.
For fire, all of the above cities are dispatched on the Hennepin Co. Fire Main TG. The only exception is Champlin, which shares their FD with Anoka and is dispatched by Anoka Co.

Golden Valley, St. Louis Park, Minnetonka, Eden Prairie, Bloomngton, and Richfield all have their own 911/dispatch centers and their own talkgroups.

HCSO serves as the police dept. for much of Northwest Hennepin Co since several of these cities don't have their own police. They also provide assistance to other agencies as needed and special operations like SWAT, crime lab, and water patrol.

This feels vaguely reminiscent me of part of a book I once read (http://www.amazon.com/Answering-911...bs_sr_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1224905863&sr=8-1), where at one point the author (a former metro-area 911 operator) agonizes over the confusion of who dispatches to whom.

Anyway, that helps clarify a lot for me. Thanks for the response.

Okay, I'm trying to build a list here. Please take a look and help me fill in the blanks or make corrections to my mistakes. I'm using this map to try and figure out exactly where everything lies: http://www.co.hennepin.mn.us/images...ecial Maps/maps/map_spec_munics_2008.0821.pdf

The ones I'm really confused about are Corcoran, Greenfield, Hanover, Independence, Loretto, Maple Plain, Medina, Osseo and Rockford. However, I encourage you to look this over because I could be completely wrong about the whole thing.

Can I assume Corcoran, Greenfield, Hanover, Independence, Loretto, and Maple Plain are on the North Main because they probably get their police from HCSO?

Does Rockford even count as Hennepin county for this?

Osseo seems to fall right between Brooklyn Park and Maple Grove, I'm not sure whether to put it in North Main or East Main.

Same with Medina. It's west of Plymouth which could put it on the South Main, but the cities west of it seem like they're probably dispatched by the North Main.

Rockford

I'm from buffalo originally and rockford is patrolled and handled by wright county. In high school, I volunteered with the Wright County Explorer Scouts and was staffed on several security details, some of which were in Rockford. Hope this helps.

I also added the department call number for Hennepin Dispatched cities.
Hanover and Rockford both cross the Hennepin /Wright County line with most of each in Wright county- the portions of both that are in Hennepin are covered by 1200 units.
