If I want to monitor frequencies used on an Idas trunked system conventionally, can I program them in with the correct Area Code and hear the voice traffic, but not the data noise?

If not, is there a way to monitor those frequencies conventionally, without hearing the data noises?

I think the system is an Icom IDAS Type D system.

What scanner are you using? I can't speak for all NXDN supported Unidens but I have programmed in an IDAS system as conventional on my 536HP & an SDS100 and was able to monitor voice traffic without data bursts. Only drawback is you can't hold onto a single talkgroup if you don't have it programmed as a trunked system
