Would I be able to monitor P25 Phase 1 with 296D ( the unit has been re banded)..so when in custom part of programing would you set spacing as 25 or 12.5?
Thanks

For P25 trunking you would not need to enter anything. It gets the info from the system (I think the 296 still did that). The only thing that changes on a rebanded P25 system is the frequencies shift down exactly 15 MHz. Nothing else is required on your part. Even the rebanding update isn't required for such systems.

And yes the 296 should be able to monitor P25 Phase I - either trunked or conventional.

If you have the card installed, everything Voyager said is the deal. I use the BC296D to monitor KSICS P25p1 & it works... Not as good as my other rigs but it works...

Wasn't the card required just for the earlier 250 & 785 scanners? I thought the 296 & 796 scanners came with p25 standard, no need to add the card.

The only real difference was that the card was pre-installed.

That and the 296 series could trunk P25 systems.
And yes, the card came standard, but could be removed.

The 250 series will decode P25 Phase I - it just won't trunk P25 systems.
