APCO Project 25, is NFM/SNFM using digital voice modulation. IMBE-CAI on iether C4FM, or CQPSK...... On trunking it requires a 9600 kbps baud rate for the Control Channel... Though Motorola's ASTRO format on 3600 kbps is "compatable" using the CAI....

It also applies to using digital modulation of conventional.

And to hear P-25 digital voice requires a digital capable scanner....

And to just once again clarify- EDACS Provoice, and Motorola's original ASTRO using the VSELP format are NOT P-25 compliant/compatable and are both proprietary formats and no scanner can hear those forms of digital. VSELP is on the way out as its being switched out for the newer ASTRO using the IMBE-CAI, or the ASTRO-25 formats.

If you are talking about a dual mode system that has users that are both analog and digital, then you will hear and track the analog talkgroups only.
