Hello across the board. I would like to monitor any known marine freqs that I can on my
Drake SW 8 receiver. Anyone know where they can be found ? I know of the traditional VHF channels but I'm more interested in anything within the 120 Meter thru 11 Meter.
USB/LSB/AM - CG / Tankers / Marine Ops that sort of thing.
Thanks in advance.

Take a look at the top 1000 freqs page from Grove - there are several ranges where marine stuff can be heard. Not as frequent as it was a few years ago - a lot of people are now using satellite - but it still can be found.

Always keep 5696 handy - most Coast Guard stations maintain a guard on that frequency.

Here are some freqs to try

4054
4146
4149
6224
6227
6230
6516 - Southbound Net (Baja / Mexico cruising net)
8122 - Amigo Net (Baja / Mexico cruising net)
12359 - Southbound II Net (Caribbean crusing net)

Here are a few websites with more info about maritime nets

Many fishermen will also show up on unlicensed freqs, usually above and below the normal marine and aero bands. These can be interesting to monitor and they often cuss like sailors too :D

I hope this helps.

Some interesting links there, Brandon. I'd like to see these added to our wiki so they aren't lost. This question is likely to come up again sometime in the future. Our HF Maritime wiki has a section reserved for such things.
