Monitoring Texas DPS in Houston

I am new to scanning. I have been able to listen to one-half of the conversations between DPS troopers and dispatch. I seem to hear the outbound calls (dispatch to cars) but not the other half. How do I make this work? Can someone point me to a reference that will help me understand how systems like this work?

DPS FREQ.

You need to go to thr RR Database and look up the imput Freq. Then you should be able to hear the mobile units.

Houston DPS is on a Semi-Duplex system with the Dispatcher being on 154.68 and the units being on 155.46. The mobiles don't talk on the same frequency as the dispatcher so you have to put in both frequencies to hear both sides of the conservation. Also they are not repeated, so you have to be fairly close to the unit to hear it.

The dispatch is on 155.460 and the troopers are on 154.680. Other DPS areas around Houston like Texas City and Conroe are on different frequencies as well. Where are you at?

Whoops, my bad got the frequencies switched.

You should also check the database for Starnet...I have heard DPS car to car a few times on that system.
