I have been using a Uniden Home Patrol HP-1 for mobile monitoring the ARMER system for the past few months now. I am just starting to use the Favorites feature. For anybody here using this mobile, how have you set up your Favorite Lists? So far, I am trying out six different list:

-Minneapolis ARMER

-Hennepin County ARMER

-Dakota County ARMER

-Ramsey County ARMER

-Scott County ARMER

-Washington County ARMER

Next, I have selected Avoid on all of the sites, except the ones assigned on that area. For example, in Ramsey County, I have all other sites locked out EXCEPT the Ramsey County Simulcast, which serves that area.

Finally, I have locked out the Talkgroups that I am not interested in. That is pretty much all Metro Mobility and Metro Transit System talkgroups. Also, the adjacent county talkgroups are usually locked out as well. For example, if I am focused on Ramsey County, I really don't want to listen to Washington County Sheriff's Dispatch talkgroups.

I may eventually add a group of the Scene Of Action frequencies, the ITACs, VHF interoperability frequencies, or federal frequencies in the near future.

Anyway, how does this compare to how you set up your mobile HP-1 for ARMER? I just have to select that county Favorite as I travel through the various areas. The other thought I am considering is just all of ARMER by itself as a Favorite, but the shortcoming I see is more talkgtroups have to be locked out and unlocked as I travel through the various areas. Also, the HP-1 would have to check more than one sub-system if multiples systems are sampled.

Also, I thought I would add that I have used Sentinel to switch from ID Scan to ID Search. I will report back soon on how well that works out.

Does the home patrol suffer from simulcast distortion / CQPSK as much as the others on the market?

I think the the Home Patrol performance on ARMER is comparable to the performance of the 396XT and the 996XT.

So far, I prefer to use ID Search on the Home Patrol over the ID Scan. Does anybody happen to know if I can save a newly found talkgrouo on the Home Patrol without the Extreme Upgrade? I assume I would need the Extreme Upgrade for that, but I just wanted to confirm that.
