Monitoring the Clay County LTR System..

Why a public saftey agency would choose LTR is beyond me but.....

Has any one been able to successfully monitor this system. I am asking before I go out and buy a LTR cabable scanner like the BCD396T :wink:

I think it is a multi net. If this is the case I maybe SOL.

there is no way to trunk track this as you are correct, it is Multi-Net

why they went with it is beyond me...

It is listed in the RRDB as Multi-Net. No scanner can currently trunk-track Multi-Net. A computer program like LTRTrunk can trunk-track it, but requires a radio with a discriminator tap, a low-pass filtered data slicer, and a computer controlled radio.

Multi-Net was marketed as a Public Safety version of LTR.

I work for clay county and my scanner has no problem usually, to keep up with the fire operations. I don't know why they went with it either, because it sucks in keystone heights. There are a ton of holes (dead areas) here. But its all good.

Yeah LTR is usually geared toward businesses that need a inexpensive trunking system to handle a lot of users. The LTR Multi net is suppose to be the public saftey version of it. Oh well... I don't listen to police any way.

Fire tones out on VHF and that's all I need.

Kh I live in Orange Park just moved up here not to long ago. Key Stone Heights is a nice area and were looking at 20 acres down in that area to buy in fact we put an offer in Friday. I have my fingers crossed.

Cool dude. Yeah I usually only listen to the simulcast channel unless im at the fire station, with having to listen to the sheriffs office and OPPD and GCSPD that does tend to get on my nerves. Good luck on being able to buy a house here in the keystone heights area. Just a word of advice to you all depending on where you will live in the keystone heights area and you have a scanner you may need a 9 inch antenna for mobile scanners which you can get a radioshack. If you don't have one of these, there will be times that the fire/rescue dispatch channel will come in fuzzy. With the 9 inch antenna it comes in crystal clear no matter where i am at in the keystone heights area. I have also been able to hear the main tone/dispatch channel from as far away as Palatka (very clear).
