I have a silly question. How do you actually monitor the new digital trunked system for the Michigan State Police. I have a Uniden BC785D with the digital card installed and have the local tower control channels programed into the radio. From here I'm lost. The control channels have signal, but will not stop on channel to recieve. What type of trunking system is it, I assume its not Type 2. Any info would help. Thanks!!!

The BC785 will not track the MPSCS. The MPSCS uses a 9600bps control channel, which that radio doesn't know how to deal with. You would need the 796 or the 296 (hand held) to be able to track it. You could scan the frequencies in conventional mode, but you'll have no control of what you hear.

Thanks Mike for this information. I guess I'll just have to upgrade to a newer scanner!

bcrail if you decide that you are going to upgrade i would go with pro-96 or the pro-2096 i know from personal experience that you would have far less trouble programming them than the uniden models. I have both sets. Good luck with either of your purchases. I know there are costly items to buy.
