I love when agencies make 17 Ops channels instead of 16 so you have to program another zone in the radio or create a Chan soft key and fumble with the menu, etc. How about making 15 (even if you need that many) and make channel 1 the primary trunked response talkgroup for that agency and then the 15 Ops in that zone. Helps when you are at an incident and don't have to change zones to go from trunked TG to simplex Ops.

So question, Eatontown is on NJICS TRS and not the Monmouth County System. My understanding is they have 700 Mhz fireground channels in the radios, would they use the above noted frequencies? Same question goes for Holmdel FD? Are these more or less universal use 700 tact frequencies or would departments associated with NJICS have a different set?

I believe the agencies on the state system work off of state simplex frequencies, not the county's.

Fire ops 1 is not "769.00625". It is actually 769.0625. I know its a little shorter than the others and doesn't look quite right but this info is confirmed.

This brings up a very interesting point. I know at least for Holmdel FD unless they have mutual aid company's come in, they use Holmdel Fire 1 and Fire 2 (Don't have the TGID for this yet...) If they have mutual aid come in, they use Holmdel Local, which is an analog channel, frequency of 154.100.

You wouldnt put these all in one bank. We have an EMS bank and a Fire Bank. Primary response channel plus these operation channels for each fit in a 16 channel bank

769.0625 is not a valid frequency.
That's not correct. 769.0625 is perfectly valid. It's not common to use the 25 kHz spaced channels in the 700 narrowband spectrum, but there are no FCC prohibitions on doing so. In fact, 90.531(d) provides the basis for combining 6.25 kHz channels to create the 12.5 and 25 kHz channels. More importantly, Region 8 has specifically designated 769.0625 as a 25 kHz channel.

Thank you for the info! I learn something new every day. Where do I find the info about region 8?

I would put them all in one bank/zone, not two. It's more field friendly to the end user to flip a channel knob vs. using soft keys through a menu to switch zones. That's my point of why 16 Ops channels. You lose an Ops channel if you put the primary response channel as channel 1requiring you to get to the 16 Ops channel in slot 17 by using a CHAN soft key and arrows to scroll. Or, as I've seen with others, they throw all Ops in a different bank/zone or make different banks/zones each for Fire and EMS. I've seen numerous Counties actually eliminate all these Ops channels as they upgrade systems because when they look back on usage, they realize most go unused and even during catastrophic incidents, they still go mostly unused and then consolidate.

Seems to be more common with the 700 Regions allowing the 25 kHz channels, thought I had an image issue, till someone on the inside confirmed the additional channels being allowed (700 wiki might need a major overhaul), especially within the State Licenses
