There is a Motorola 3600 baud control channel currently on 460.3000 which is Sheriff West Dispatch. It is showing and SID of 0D14. I have a dump of the control channel if some one who understands it wants to take a look at it. Have not seen any Talk groups, and someone occasionally interrupts to give their current location.

Does anyone know if they are planning to turn trunking on?

On the PRO-500 when the control channel is interrupted by some speaking it shows talk group lsTGID- 35344

The CT is showing 97.3

Sounds like an TRS intermodding. Set the NAC for the SO-DISP and you wont be bothered with the TRS. Set up the TRS as another TSYS object and run with it and see what you get. If your able run Universal Trunker, or Trunk-88 on the trs CC your getting and see what it shows. I will be moving soon to Brockport and am gathering all the data on the area I can.:D

Well, it certainly isn't standard ducting. It is a very strong signal with no fading. Also the Mass SP is 800MHz, and I am hearing it on 460.300MHz. When they were talking it was local locations. The TG I saw was this one 35344 8a1 A TECH-SW Radio Technicians State-Wide .

I checked this morning and it is still there. The channel it is running on is normally a pretty busy one, and I am not hearing any of the normal traffic.

When I use my 396XT to do a control channel only search, it shows "Massachusetts SP" in the CC.

It's probably your scanner mis-decoding the P25 CAI voice data because you have told it that the frequency is trunked. Go back to digital FM mode and the scanner should operate correctly.

H Ed,

Can you post the dump of the CC data, it may provide some insight!

Thanks

Monroe County on a PRO-106

Hi,
New to "Digital" scanning and need some help getting my PRO-106 set up to scan the Monroe County stations.
Here is what I have done so far.
  • Bought the new PRO-106 scanner.
  • Bought the USB uplink cable and installed the drivers.
  • Downloaded and installed the ARC-500 software. Still in trial mode but it's working.
  • Paid for a premium membership on this site so the ARC-500 could download the Monroe County data.
  • I down loaded the data from this site into ARC500 for the channels I want.
  • I then set all of the channels in the ARC-500 program to scan list -1 and didn't change anything else.
  • Then uploaded the data into the PRO-106.
I can see all of the channels in the PRO-106 and it scans them fine but the only channels it is picking up are the ones my old scanners will also pick up. It seems that nothing that has gone to digital is being received.

My question is... Do I need to make some other changes to the data in ARC-500 other than setting up the scan list in order for the PRO-106 receive those transmissions.
Thanks....

It's probably your scanner mis-decoding the P25 CAI voice data because you have told it that the frequency is trunked. Go back to digital FM mode and the scanner should operate correctly.

This is definitely not P25. The sound is very different. The data is almost always there with the exception of when they are actually talking, which I can hear.

You need to program the Monroe County stuff as Conv objects with the right NAC set to prevent the intermod of the MA system. Then set that one freq up seperate as an TSYS object and youll quickly find out it is indeed an intermod duct type event.

I don't hear anything when I have NAC turned on. I noticed it because my 2096 does not do NAC decoding. I put it into 3 different scanners and each decodes it as a 3600 baud Motorola system. The SID has also changed from 0D14 to A474 since last night.

You mean when MCSO transmits on the frequency the data channel goes away? That sounds very strange and if I'm understanding it correctly, the data stream starts when no one is using the frequency and disappears when P25 voice comes on?

It would be nice if you can take a video of the scanner display and post it on youtube to show us what you saw :)

That is strange to have constant duct/intermod from that far off... Which CPU and DSP are you running in the 2096 and have you tried to use attenuation? Hopefully we can knock out the spurious signals. Also A474 isn't in the db yet, so if you could get a good line on that it would be interesting to us admins to nab that lol... :)

Yeah, this would be a long time for a duct event. Also, Monroe County UHF and Mass State Police 800 MHz.

Could you be hearing some type of single channel trunking site I wonder? - single channel trunking (I know they exist in EDACS and P25) uses a single channel for both data and voice, with the data pausing when there is voice traffic.
The other possibility is capture. Does the data sound weaker/noiser than the voice? If so, it may be a more distant co-channel user that is being "stepped on" by the local voice. Attenuation might help there.

Are you in a really good receive location? I see Onondaga County has it licensed as part of their new P25 trunked system. It's also licensed to Erie County and Chenango (or maybe it was Chemung, I already closed the ULS window).

This control channel is still sitting there still showing a SID of A474. I have seen one talkgroup 18960 show up a couple of nights ago, but I haven't heard anything. I am now recording any traffic if it shows up again.

My guess is that it is in fact coming from Monroe County since it is a very strong and solid signal. I live close to Wayne county, but they don't show a license for this freq.
