It appears that the 460.075 link to TG2441 Towns North has been discontinued. All the other Monroe LE UHF links seem to be operating but 460.075 has gone silent. I listened for a long time and normal activity on TG2441 and nothing on 460.075.

I am wondering why any of the UHF links are still up after so many years and all agencies apparently completely on the Monroe/Ontario P25 TRS.

Just a matter of time probably. It seems like it has taken Monroe county years and years to get agencies over to the TRS.

My concern is, if 460.075 is actually deprecated or is it just broken and nobody noticed or cares? I also verified no activity on 460.275 while Airport Sheriff TG9711 is active. The TAC channels are also questionable but don't have enough activity to be sure.

Does any one have any knowledge of the status of the UHF channels? I am reluctant to mark any frequency deprecated without confirmation it has been taken out of service. I may put a note on the Monroe County Law Enforcement category that Law Enforcement operates primarily on the Monroe/Ontario system and continued use of the UHF channels is questionable.

I don't want to see anyone buy a new UHF conventional scanner to monitor Monroe LE if it is definitely going away soon.

Towns North has been off for a while, the TACs have also been disconnected from their detail zone patches.
Anyone who wants to scan Monroe Law should get a 7/8 P2 scanner capable of linear simul, because the UHFs are being de-linked from their trunked counterparts.

I seem to remember seeing at one point that it was for interoperability with outside (not Monroe County, not NYSP) agencies.

Or maybe that came to me in a dream. :)

Doubtful since adjacent counties are VHF or 800. The last I heard, probably a year or more ago, is that some Monroe agencies had old radios still in use and no hurry to replace them.

That's not who I meant. The post mentioned federal agencies.

Very possible that the post was wrong, or maybe I really AM imagining it.

It IS interesting that the old UHF channels have been patched for so long. Sounds like someone was (or is) using them.

Pretty weird, not done anything and I'm not receiving anything on the Harris system now.

I asked about the UHF channels in the OEC retirees group on Facebook, but nobody answered.

I am not familiar with the details of the existing arrangement but I suspect the UHF links are "hard wired" vs dispatcher controlled console patches. So, the OEC dispatchers are probably unaware if a TG on their console is still linked to UHF. The only people likely to know (or care) if UHF channels are operating are agencies that still use UHF radios.

I agree with k2hz.

The only people that probably know are the operating agencies themselves and or the contract with who ever Monroe county has with a communications business that handles and maintains the systems.

I hate to say this but most police offices and retirees probably wont know either, they just want the radio to work and that's all they care about.

I would determine whether or not any UHF channels are still in use by watching the RIDs on the patched talkgroups. If units are still coming in over patch or EXTERNAL identifiers, then those units are still on UHF. If they have native trunked system RIDs, then they are on the trunk.

I am not within radio range of Rochester, so...

The situation is that all Monroe LE is officially operating on the P25 trunked system. The links remain up until the user agency determines they are no longer needed. I am told Towns West will probably be the next to be shut down soon. I have not seen any indication of any units still operating regularly on UHF but some agencies may still have a few out there.
