Is Monroe County still dispatching on 154.43 & 460.175? I have not heard anything lately.......

They are still dispatching fire on analog 154.430MHz and will likely be dispatching there for a LONG time, so you don't need a digital scanner if all you are worried about is dispatch as he posted.

Even Ingham co. snatched grand ledges old frequency, they'll be toning out any county depts via that frequency.

Yes the simulcasting will be done on 154.430 but it will not be done forever. The only thing you will hear once everything is hooked up and everyone is totally up and running on the 800, is that on 154.43 all you;ll hear is the tones and what the call is. everything then will be switched over to the 800 system once the call goes out. you will not hear any other radio traffic come through once this is all set and done.

Dont look for that to happen anytime soon. There are major problems with 154.430. As of right now they are using a tone of 118.8. There is also talks about something else dealing with the VHF freqency, but I cannot mention yet, but will as soon as it is ok. The VHF will be around forever. Monroe County will always use their Fire VHF frequency. Fire will not be totally dependent on the MPSCS as the Sheriff is. Stay tuned!

Yep that is correct. It has been listed on my website for the last couple of days. Monday is the deadline for the patch. I know a lot of firefighters are pretty irritated about it, but it should be ok.

Well, I was in Monroe County last night and I have to say I am upset with the quality. I've heard other MCPCS systems and they sound fine. What diff. about Monroe's? The only place I could hear them good is about 2nd and S Monroe. Any feed back? Thanks
Well a couple of things. 1)Monroe is the FIRST Simulcast MPSCS System to go online 2)Are you refering to Fire or Police sounding bad?
I am in Ypsilanti, and I have to monitor that system off of the Flat Rock Tower, as the dundee tower does not do well up here. I often listen to the data channel and can hear it just fine, but none of my scanners will decode it. I think it is a Simulcast issue. I think maybe it is designed to only do well in Monroe County, but not outside the county. On that same note, I hear Monroe Couty just fine off of the flatrock tower.
It is really funny how these towers operate, as I cannot even hear the Ann Arbor Tower and it is even in my county!!!(well off my new discone with "N" connectors I cannot hear it, but on my 3 element beam I can a bit)

I'm using a PRO-96 with a rubber ducky 800 antenna. I'm assuming there's a repeater in the city right? Thier system sucks compared to Ohio MARCS. I can hear MARCS better from Monroe County then I can Monroe County in Monroe County! Have you heard any reports of how the officers and dispatchers or what not like it? I am having static mostly, some bonking in the middle of transmissions.
There are Four Towers in Monroe County.....Berlin, Dunbar, Dundee, and Whiteford. There are no repeaters in Monroe at all for the 800 MHz MPSCS System(except for Icall and Itac channels)
With the 800 Rubber Duck, I would expect that you would hear some bonking etc....and if you are in Ohio, you definatly will because the system is not designed to be heard in Ohio!

No, I was stating. I can hear MARCS when I am in Monroe better than I can hear Monroe's system when I am in Monroe.
As mentioned in the other threads this has been posted on - none of the scanners currently out were developed for CQPSK systems. Hopefully the 396T will be better suited.

No, it's a type of APCO25 that is used for simulcast towers (like Monroe Co.) Originally the Pro96 did not support it at all, and the Bearcat line did (but barely.) The Pro96 was upgraded about a year ago and the Bearcat also got an update, but my guess is you can only do so much when none of the scanners had a system to test with during development.
I've held my Pro96 next to one of Monroe Co's handhelds and the Motorola did a notably better job.
