I just noticed that Monroe Fire has been encrypted

What is the deal with this? There is no reason for any type of fire dispatch to be encrypted.

This BS encrypting is getting way out of control.

Time to get the powers to be in government to stand up

What is next are they going to encrypt everything in Union County.

Honest scanner listener has no rights any longer

Scanner listeners have never had rights, maybe privilege, but never rights. And, you will find lots of Fire and EMS departments going encrypted to satisfy the legalities of HIPPA and prevent the do it yourself press chasing accidents, fires, and other hazardous situations. Good luck getting any elected government officials to side with scanner listeners over public safety, hasn't worked yet. And, as for Union County, don't be surprised.

I was reminded of this: California community went encrypted then unencrypted

What talkgroup(s)? I have been hearing them this just fine this afternoon on dispatch and ops channels. Are you sure they're not TDMA?

T-Man,

Good to hear from you?

What I saw in the database was the mode was set for "DE" which to my understanding is that is the designation for full encryption.

I agree with certain law talkgroups to be encrypted but everyday patrol and dispatch

When has anyone ever heard a patient's name mentioned over an EMS or any other talk group/channel?
Only gender, approximant age and vital signs. There is just no justification for encryption based on HIPPA laws. Monroe officials are simply falling for the "cover your a**" BS that radio manufacturers push for bigger sales.

I would suggest you bring a Phase 2 capable scanner.

Charlotte UASI is still operating on Phase 1 right now

Viper for this area is still on Phase1 right now, but who knows when they will be switching over other talkgroups.

My XTL-2500 mobile/base at work is still receiving SHP and Gaston County fine on phase 1.
