Mont Co fire talk groups

Hello all,

I'm not new to scanning, but I am new to trunking and digital, and find the information shared here very helpful. Has anyone heard anything on the Montgomery fire talkgroups higher than 7 Kilo? When I set up my 296 in December , I added as many id's as I could, but I have yet to hear a thing on the talkgroups for ch 8, 11 or 17. Thanks for the info.

To be honest, you probably won't hear a whole lot (if anything) on Zones 8 and 11. Zone 8 is for the fourth, fifth and sixth simultaneous working incidents, so unless the County has a rash of Box Alarms at the same time, those TGs'll be pretty quiet. Zone 11 is for "major incidents," such as a mass casualty incident or long-term HazMat incident. 17's the Admin Zone, so you might hear the fire inspectors chatting around or training evolutions at the Academy. All the good stuff (senior staff and the Fire Marshals) is encrypted.

VERY occasionally, you'll hear Montgomery using a TG on Zone 8. Also, 17G and 17H are used at the PSTA and 17K is occasionally used for non-emergency operations within a local fire-rescue department. 12M and 12N are used, occasionaly, for special events such as the Montgomery County Fair. As far as I know, Zone 11 has yet to be used.

Zones 9 and 10, of course, are regularly used for hospital comms.

Are they the MRC channels? I hear on 7B that they sometimes are

In zone 10 each hospital has its own talk group...

A = Holy Cross
B = Montgo. Gen
C = Navy Med
D = Shady Grove
E = Suburban
F = Wash. Adventist
G = Hosp. Center
H = Hospital "announce," sort of an all-call channel
I = Medstar
J = Childrens
K = Sibley
L = Georgetown
M = Geo. Wash.
N = Inova Fairfax
