Montclair's trunked system is now online. Its supposed to be a P-25. I'm having some difficulty getting the 396 to receive it. Anyone else having trouble?

It's a Motorola Type II system with Analog and P25 voice. Program it as Type II, not P25.

Yes, it is a 3600 baud control channel system. My 396 works fine.

As Joseph11 stated, program it as a Type II system. It uses two base configurations.

First is:
Base 500.000
step 12.5 kHz
offset 380

Second is:
Base 506.000
step 12.5 kHz
offset 570

I don't have a good list of talkgroups yet as it is weak here at home.

Montclair PD 32816. The Fire Department is NOT yet on the system. They are still on 500.3625 and 500.4625. I think they are having some deadspot issues.

I will find out just who is on the system. 32816 is the MPD dispatch channel. 32880 is possibly the Ambulance unit.

As Montclair FD was testing their evacuation tones on 500.3625 at 8 this am, the same tones
were sounding on the new trunk system with an ID of 33616. No voice transmissions,
just the tones. Could this be the ID for the new FD dispatch?

They can't completly get rid of the conventional frequency, they need it for the pagers.

At 11 am they are doing radio checks on 500.3625. The FD dispatch this morning was solely on the trunk system. Maybe they were having radio problems at the time.

Per information I received from Tech792, Montclair FD is totally paid, no volunteers. Therefore, pagers do not need to be activated. They are probably being alerted via the trunk system on base trunk radios at the station(s).

FD back on 500mhz

I noticed that Montclair FD is back to dispatching on 500.3625. I guess that last week's move to the new trunked system was for testing purposes.

Police channel 2 is 32848.BTW,very hard to receive the signal in West Orange near the South Orange line.As you go along Propect Ave. from Eagle Rock the signal decreases until it disappears at Northfield Road.Yet.I received the signal as far north in my auto as Westchester County.

I'm right next store to Montclair, and I can't pick up the CC. But in a town several miles away, it comes in loud and clear. Strange. BTW, the FD is still not using the digital system. I understand the FD claims there are dead spots.
