Department of Public Safety Deploys Live Dispatch Data

EAGLEVILLE — Residents of Montgomery County can now find out what those sirens on the next street are all about simply by logging onto the County’s Web site and going to the Department of Public Safety’s homepage.

The department will release a live web-based interface to the County’s emergency computer aided dispatch (CAD) system at 11 a.m. on Monday, November 23rd and hold a simultaneous conference call briefing for members of the media to demonstrate its features.

The site can be accessed starting Monday morning at http://dps.montcopa.org/webcad and the conference call can be accessed by calling (866) 863-6073 and entering participant code: 137-5135.

Through a simple interface, citizens, media, and first responders will be able to access near-real time data about emergencies and traffic related incidents 24 hours a day.

The “WebCAD” interface includes information about all active fire and emergency medical events in the county, as well as details on traffic-related incidents along the county’s roads and highways.

This first-of-its-kind site features integrated mapping, special pages for web-enabled mobile phones, as well as links to live audio streams of the actual fire and medical radio channels.

“County residents can now see accidents and other delays on the highways before spending valuable time in traffic, and first responders can monitor incidents wherever they have Internet access,” Deputy Director of Public Safety Sean Petty said.

The Montgomery County WebCAD was a collaborative effort between the Department of Public Safety and the county’s Information and Technology Solutions Department. It is the most feature-rich, intuitive WebCAD interface of its kind.

Exactly! How many counties post their frequencies, talkgroups, district numbers, station numbers, and procedures on the web?

Way to go Montco!
