Hi all :)

First time poster here.

I am looking for someone familiar with Montgomery County Conventional frequencies.

I am looking for what the Montgomery County Fire refers to as Channel 4.

I have searched the Database and have been unable to locate this channel.

Just this morning, there was an MVA with entrapment in which all the units responded on channel 4. We can hear the initial call cuase it is dispatched on County 1 most of the time, but as soon as they switch to Channel 4 we never here another word. (We have County-2 as well as all the Conroe Fire 1 , Fire 2, Fire 3, and Conroe Fire mutual aid Prgorammed)

Maybe it is listed in the Database under another name?

Thanks
Foster

This is from my August 2003 files:

158.8200 MC County Fire 1 107.2
154.2500 MC County Fire 2 146.2
153.8900 MC County Fire 3 CSQ
154.2800 MC County Fire 4 CSQ

Fire 4 is the statewide High Band Fire Mutual Aid
CSQ means Common Squelch, i.e, no tone

There may have been a couple of changes since 2003, so if any
Montgomery County members see any differences, please advise.

Happy Scanning

i don't have any conventional frequencies programmed in. all i have is the montgomery county edacs trs -- am i missing out on something? is this traffic that happens outside of the trunk system? sounds like i might have to add some new frequencies...

Yes, the Montgomery County Fire Department is not on the trunked system, they are conventional.

jeez, not sure how i missed that. thanks for the heads-up. just added ~17-18 new ones, so i'll see how that changes things now.

incidentally, i have a pro-97 which seems to works great, but i've added the new conventional frequencies at the end of the bank which has the montgomery county edacs system in it -- they say you can mix trunk and conventional frequencies, but i'm wondering if there's something wrong.

when listening it seems like i almost always hear the trunk system and only after a period (several seconds) of silence with no traffic on the trunk system does it pick up anything on the conventional frequenices i just added. so it seems like it doesn't even scan the conventional ones until there's silence for a while on the trunk system. i've also turned squelch all the way down, so as soon as it hits one of the conventional frequencies that has quite a bit of static the scanner should stop with static right away -- this almost never happens until, like i mentioned above, there are several seconds of silence on the trunk system. i've even turned off delay for the whole bank so it's not that. is this normal? :-/ would be nice if it'd switch to the conventional ones when it picks up traffic on them.

**EDIT:

hmmm... actually i think i may have it now. within the win97 application i turned down the "id delay" to 500 (1/2 second). "id delay" is described as follows:

... controls how long the scanner watches the trunked system’s control channel, after a transmission has ended, for a new transmission on the same talk group ...

plus, turning squelch down would also delay how quickly it scanned through the edacs channels looking for a good control signal, so that might also have screwed me up. regardless, i guess the only way to make sure i'm not missing anything on those conventional frequencies is to program those into my old pro-94 and listen side-by-side to see if it picks up anything this one doesn't.

sorry for going off-topic.

Every fire department in Montgomery County can be heard on VHF. The 158.82 freq dispatches EVERYONE except the city of Conroe and The Woodlands. (There is no Montgomery County FD per se, but there are fifteen volunteer departments).

Here's what I have. All personally heard and verified.

Montgomery County Fire Alarm:
158.82 (107.2) Frequency 1 Primary Dispatch (GOOD range)
158.895 (107.2) Frequency 2 - not used often, sometimes as a backup to 1
(various) (CSQ) Frequency 3 - Each volunteer dep't dispatched by the county has their own Frequency 3. PL on all is 146.2. With the exception of Magnolia VFD, all are simplex.
-Cut 'N Shoot: 154.34
-Lake Conroe: 154.175
-Grangerland: 154.235
-Town of Montgomery: 154.4
-Needham Road: 154.355
-N. Montgomery County: 154.22
-S. Montgomery County: 154.355
-Porter: 154.43
-New Caney: 154.205
-Splendora: 154.145
-Magnolia: 154.34
154.28 (CSQ) Frequency 4 - Primary fireground channel for the county, used for working building fires and major accidents, hazmat, etc.
154.265 (CSQ) Frequency 5 - secondary working incident channel
154.295 (CSQ) Frequency 6 - secondary working incident channel

City Of Conroe:
154.19 (146.2) Conroe Fire 1 - also dispatches Magnolia Bend (Multicast of 02-031 on MCHD trunk) GOOD range.

The Woodlands:
155.04 (100.0) "WFD 1" - also dispatches Timberlakes
154.965 (146.2) "WFD 2" - sometimes used for working incidents. Ch. 3 is simplex and is used for training.
Contrary to popular opinion, The Woodlands does NOT use the 800 trunk for their primary ops.

All Montgomery County departments are numbered. The numbers also cary over to apparatus. (example: Engine 101 would be Woodlands Engine 1)
1 - Conroe
2 - Cut 'N Shoot
3 - Lake Conroe
4 - Grangerland
5 - Montgomery
6 - Needham Rd.
7 - Bennett Estates
8 - Magnolia Bend
9 - North Montgomery County
10 - The Woodlands
11 - South Montgomery County
12 - Porter
13 - ?
14 - Timberlakes
15 - New Caney
16 - Splendora
17 - River Plantation
18 - Magnolia

PHI SkyMed Freq to talk to Hermann Downtown

Hi guys....me again :)

Anyone have a clue what talk group or frequency that PHI Skymed uses when enroute with patients to Herman downtown... I have all the frequencies and talkgroups they use to talk to ground here in montgomery county as well as there main frequency in which they talk with Phoenix.

What I am looking for is the frequency/id they use to talk to Herman downtown ER when they are inbound with a patient.

I have looked in the database for harris county...all i see for herman downtown are maitenence and securityitems.

Any help of methods used to find this freq would be appreciated :)

Thanks

Well

I posted the last message before i thoroughly checked out the frequencies at that link. I already had 2 of the three skymed frequencies progammed..and the third i think was just a conventional simulcast of the 800 trunking id I already have.

Shouldn't I be looking for a Hermann hospital(downtown) frequency? When the ground med units communicate patient information to the hospital it is always on a Hospital id/frequency. I have never heard them communicate with the hospitals on the ground med units frequencies.

Therefore I would think that I should be looking for a hermann hospital frequency..not a skymed frequency. I am thinking maybe its on the starnet system for Harris county, but i have been unable to find that id.

Remember I am trying to listen to skymed relay patient information to Herman in Downtown Houston. I can already hear them communicate with MCHD for their go or no go on launch, as well as their base in phoenix and if I am close I can hear the fire units that set up the LZ... the only thing I am missing from having the complete picture is the relay of patient info to the ER.

Just noticed that id 21904 on starnet is setup for Herman Lifeflight Control. Its a long shot, but I am going to program that one in. Wouldn't make sense for Lifeflight to let SKymed, their main competitor, to share the id. But I am getting desperate :)

If it works will post here.

Thanks again :)

To restate what I already said above: PHI contacts Hermann on 128.85 with patient information when they transport there.

FYI, Woodlands FD Dispatch has moved over to County 1 since my last post. County 1 now dispatches every department in the county except for Conroe.
-Woodlands FD continues to use WFD 1 as a response channel. Fireground comms for working incidents are done on "WFD Tac 1" or "WFD Tac 2" (155.04 [100.0] or 154.965 [146.2] simplex)
-Magnolia Tac 2 is now used by Magnolia FD and possibly a handful of other agencies in the SW corner of the county for incident response and is monitored by Firecom (the County fire dispatching agency). Previously, it was used mainly for chit-chat.
-Incident response for all other departments dispatched by Firecom is split between County 1 and County 2. I haven't been able to discern a pattern, so someone who is an actual firefighter up there will have to post which department is assigned to which channel for response, or whether it is done at the dispatcher's discretion based on channel loading.
-Tac 4 or Statewide Mutual Aid is still the primary fireground ops channel for most of the county.

County 2 is typically assigned to Departments east of IH 45 or east county departments. Willis (Department 9) being the exception, most of their territory is west of the freeway and consequently operating on County 1. As per previous post County 1, 2, or WFD 1 is assigned by firecom, once command is estblished command determines fireground frequency fire 4, (SW Mutual aid) if more than one department responding, or individual Frequency 3 (Individual to each Department) if a single department response requiring a tac channel. Hope this helps.
